Abstract
Objective: To discuss the potential pathogeny and corresponding therapy of supernumerary teeth accompanying with family heredity. Methods: A patient suffering from supernumerary teeth accompanying with family history was treated in Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital. Iconography was used in the predetermined design of supernumerary teeth. A operation was performed to avoid injuring the proximal tissue and completely clean the dental crypt. Postoperatively, the patient was regularly checked and observed the concrescence of the tooth extraction wound and the patient's healthy conditions.Result: According to the postoperative follow-up, the wound's concrescence was in good circumstances. The patient's outer appearance of maxillofacial region and mastication function returned to normal conditions. Conclusion:Supernumerary teeth belongs to a kind of abnormity of tooth growth, which the patient' s tooth number is more than normal one. Family heredity often appears in the cases of syndrome all over the body but little non-syndrome ones. Through the assistance of iconography, the number and location of supernumerary teeth can be determined accurately, which is important to the design of operative approach and direction of tooth extraction.关键词
