Abstract
SiC nanoparticles were added into engine oil as additive, friction and wear test was conducted on M200 model friction and wear testing machine within a load of 400 to 1 300 N and a sliding speed range of 0.42 ~ 0.84 m/s.Through careful analysis of the worn surface by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), effects of SiC nanoparticles on wear mechanisms transition of steel/steel coupling and the wear mechanism transition map was established.The results show that SiC nanoparticales increase the wear of loss because lubrication film is destroyed under low load and sliding speed conditions.With high load and high sliding speed, SiC nanoparticales prevent the rubbing surfaces from coming into direct contact, and act as ball bearing between two mutuall sliding surfaces which leads to micro-rolling wear from macro-sliding wear, so that severe adhesive wear is inhibited, the wear loss is reduced and the load-carrying capacity of engine oil is improved in the bad environment.关键词
