Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical application of transrectal prostate biopsy under ultrasound guidance in diagnosis of prostatic carcinoma. Methods Transrectal prostate biopsy was performed under ultrasound guidance in 70 patients with suspected prostatic carcinoma in June 2008-May 2010. Results Biopsy samples were obtained from the 70 patients. Of these patients, 36 were diagnosed as prostatic carcinoma, 26 as benign prostatic hyperplasia, and 8 as prostatitis. Hematuria and fever occurred in 12 and 23 patients respectively after the procedure, which disappeared after symptomatic treatment. No other severe complications occurred. Conclusion Transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy is a safe and effective procedure and can increase the early diagnosis rate of prostatic carcinoma.关键词
