Abstract

Lots of by-products containing a large amount of durene and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene may formed in the process of coal to gasoline.Based on the different melting and boiling points of the components, the methods including distillation and crystallization were proposed to purify the mixture.With the by-products from coal to gasoline project in Shanxi province as the raw materials, and using a small-scale experimental device, the mass fraction of durene and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene obtained can reach 99% and 94.85% respectively.Aspen Plus was applied to simulate the distillation process.The industrial experiment device containing three towers for distillation and separation was designed to fulfill the prospective effect.The mass fraction of durene and 1,2, 4-trimethylbenzene obtained reaches 67.52% and 98.19% respectively.The purity of durene can reach above 95%after being re-crystallized with toluene.
