Abstract
A multi-factor model was established to investigate the effect of cigarette design on emission of 7 harmful chemicals in mainstream smoke,. Five factors were chosen,which were air permeability of plug wrap paper, tipping paper and cigarette paper, cigarette paper weight and draw resistance of filter. Orthogonal design and response surface optimization design was used in cigarette design. Partial least-square regression (PLS) was used for the establishment of a model on relationship between cigarette material parameters and emission of Hoffmann analytes in mainstream smoke. Results from analysis of the model showed that air permeability of tipping paper had highly significant effect on emission of 7 analytes. Increasing air permeability of plug wrap paper, draw resistance of filter, air permeability of cigarette paper and tipping paper can reduce emission of these 7 analyte in varying degrees. Modelfitting and verification proved that the model was sound in theory and the regression equation was in good conformity with actual results. Based on this model, the emission of 7 analytes in mainstream smoke can be predicted within limited test range, A good combination of cigarette meterials can be determined in reduced-harm cigarette design.关键词
