Activation Energy of Portland Cement Hydration by Electrical Resistivity Measurement
摘要
Abstract
Temperature effect on the electrical resistivity of Portland cement pastes during first 72 h was investigated. The experiments were conducted on the cement pastes with various water cement ratios of 0.30, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45, 0.55 at different curing temperatures of 15, 20 and 30 ℃. The hyperbolic equation for each sample was established to estimate the ultimate resistivity. The electrical resistivity at various temperatures can determinate the activation energy for the liquid solution in pores (Eas) and the activation energy for hydration reaction (Ear). The electrical resistivities at 15 and 30 ℃ are obtained based on the value at 20 ℃ to eliminate the effect of temperature on the ionic mobility in the liquid solutions. The Eas increased with the decrease of water cement ratio due to a higher ion concentration in a lower water cement ratio paste solution, and the Eas ranged from 16.5 to 25.7 kJ/mol. The activation energy of cement hydration determined was 37.2 k J/mol, which was similar to the value recommended by the ASTM 1074 standard method. A lower curing temperature could give a higher ultimate resistivity in the measured temperature region of the paste.关键词
