Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognosis of elderly patients with acute brain swelling caused by cerebral contrecoup injury.Methods Craniocerebral trauma and its treatments of 51 patients with brain trauma complicated by acute brain swelling, admitted to our hospital from January 2009 to June 2010, were analyzed retrospectively.The patients were assessed by Glasgow outcome score ( GOS ) and prognoses compared between differently — aged patients after operation.Results There was significant difference in GOS between 3 age groups after operation ( P ＜0.01 ).Conclusion The fatality rate is high and prognoses are bad in elderly patients with acute brain swelling caused by cerebral contrecoup injury.Clinically, observation and treatment should be taken early, post - operation treatment should be timely, thus to improve patients' quality of life and survival.关键词
