Temporal-Spatial Differences of China's Regional Development and Ecological Pressure

Abstract
The development of regional economy and society has intensified the pressure on ecological system. It would be helpful to understand and solve the increasingly serious contradiction between man and the nature to study temporal-spatial characteristics of regional development and ecological pressure. Taking ecological footprint as the indicator of ecological pressure and based on estimating the ecological pressure in every province, this paper has analyzed dynamic changes, spatial overflow and spatial equalization of ecological pressure in China since 1980. The results show that: ①the ecological pressure in different regions has illustrated an apparent gradient due to development level and the pressure is higher in the higher-level regions, while the pressure in the lower-level regions has increased greatly. ②there is a difference of spatial overflow in each region with the different development levels, and the lowerlevel regions are in a “deprived” situation. ③there is an apparent spatial relativity between regional development and ecological pressure, and generally, it is in the situation of “highl equalization” or “relative equalization”. But, the ecogical Gini coefficient has been increasing significantly and it is a worrying problem that regional difference has caused the unfair trend of ecological pressure. The result suggest that the higher-level regions ought to make up for what lower-regions ( or resources output regions) have suffered from the perspective of capital, technology, and human resources to reduce the regional inequality of ecological footprint caused by regional differences.关键词
