Preparation and Characterization of Silica-based Superhydrophobic Films with Beehive-like Structure by Emulsion Template Method

Abstract
Silica sol was added into the polystyrene(PS) emulsion and the films were prepared by dip-withdrawing method. After heat-treatment and modification with trimethylchlorosilane(TMCS) in ethanol, the as-prepared films showed superhydrophobicity. On the basis of the morphology of the films and the water contact angle(WCA), the effect of the amount of the monomer and the ratio of silica sol to PS emulsion on the hydrophobicity of the films was studied.In addition, the reason of the superhydrophobicity of the films was also analyzed. The results show that the emulsion template is removed during the heat treatment process, and the films gain a beehive-like structure which enhanced the hydrophobicity of the films.关键词
