Abstract
Objective To investigate the preventive and therapeutic effect of probiotic preparation on diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome and to provide theoretical references in clinics. Methods One hundred and thirty-eight patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome were reviewed and randomized dividedinto control group and study group equally. The patients in control group were treated with traditional methods including pinaverium bromide and glutamine enteric-coated capsules. Probiotic preparation was administrated orally for eight weeks for patients in study group based on the traditional methods mentioned above. The clinical data of the two groups were compared after the treatment. Results These was no significant difference in the gastrointestinal symptom scores between the two groups before treatment and at 2nd,4th,6th,8th and 10th week after treatment(P ＞ 0.05). The gastrointestinal symptom scores in study group was obviously lower than those of control group at the 12 th week ( P ＜ 0.05 ). After treatment for eight weeks in control group, 22 cases showed excellent in efficiency,21 cases demonstrated effective and 2 cases with no response while those in study group were 36 cases,27cases and 6 cases respectively. The total effective rate in study group was higher than that in control group,P ＜ 0.05 (91.39％ vs. 62.32％ ). These was no significant difference in the main side effects between the two groups(P ＞ 0.05). Conclusion Probiotic preparation combined with traditional methods is effective in treating diarrhea- predominant irritable bowel syndrome with few side effects, therefore is preferable in clinics.关键词
