摘要

Abstract

The removal efficiency and the kinetics of oxidation treatment of benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes(BTEX) contaminated groundwater by Fenton's reagent and Fenton-like reagent were investigated and compared in the groundwater. The results indicated that Fenton's reagent has a better removal effect on BTEX than Fenton-like reagent. Moreover,both Fenton and Fenton-like reaction systems were in strong oxidation environments and the pH maintained around 3 during the whole processes. The oxidation processes of BTEX by Fenton’s reagent and Fenton-like reagent both followed the second order reaction kinetic equation: 1/C = kt + 1/C0. The average half-lives of BTEX treated by Fenton's reagent and Fenton-like reagent were 0.057 h and 0.642 h respectively. The order of the rate constants during the oxidation processes was ethyl benzene > xylenes > toluene > benzene.
