摘要

Abstract

A nonlinear contact numerical model of high arch dams with contraction joints is established for transient simulations. Restrainer bars of shape memory alloys ( SMA ) are adopted to reduce the nonlinear seismic response of arch dams, and simulation method of their energy damping and control mechanism is discussed. Simulation results with various earthquake resistance measures show that these bars are more effective in limiting joints opening and seismic acceleration than traditional joint reinforcements, while they cause little effect on stress distribution.
