Abstract
A formulation of immersed boundary method which uses a direct force to simulate the influences of boundaries on the flow is presented in details. The method uses a bi-linear velocity interpolation and is embedded in a finite volume solver. The results of micro-pump flow calculated by the solver agree well with the experiment data. Simulations are used to study the influence of a flat plate at the top of the pump on the flow inside the pump and to optimize the length of this plate. It is found that the blockage of inlet eddy is an important factor that influences the pump flow rate and that the pump achieves its maximum flow rate at the relative length 4 of the plate and the minimum blockage.关键词
