Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the dissolution of different oral solid preparation of Xingnaojing and to compare the dissolution characteristics of active components of different oral solid preparation of Xingnaojing in order to provide reference for dosage form selection of Xingnaojing. METHODS: The dissolution of Xingnaojing was determinedby small cup method at rotating speed of 100 r·min-1 using distilled water as dissolution medium. The dissolution of gardenin and borneol in Xingnaojing were determined by HPLC method. The accumulative dissolution percentages were calculated, and the resemblance of release curves were compared by similarity factors. RESULTS: The dissolution curves of different oral solid preparations were similar besides Xingnaojing water-soluble coating tablets and Xingnaojing capsules. The dissolution curves of gardenin and borneol were different significantly among different oral solid preparations. The dissolution curves of active components were up to first order kinetic equation.CONCLUSION: The accumulative dissolution of active components can be more than 90% in 15 min. The dissolution of gardenin in capsule was the fastest as borneol in water-soluble coating tablet.
