Abstract

The precision of localisation algorithm for wireless sensor networks mostly relies on the density of beacon node, but the beacon node is very expensive, approximately more than 100 times of the ordinary node. In order to curtail the cost of localisation, we propose a kind of WSN localisation algorithm based on mobile beacon and DV-Hop (MBWDV-Hop). In this algorithm, on the basis of DV-Hop localisation algorithm, a mobile beacon node is used to move around the network according to destined path and to broadcast continually the messages with regard to its own localisation, and this forms a lot of virtual beacons in network. The unknown node records the number of hops from each virtual beacon and uses weighedprocessing method to calculate the average of one-hop distance and the distances between it itself and each virtual beacon. At the end, trilateration method is used to calculate the position information of the unknown node to achieve accurate localisation of the node. Since only one mobile beacon is used in this algorithm, the cost of localisation and the complexity of network deployment can be reduced. Simulation result demonstrates that the proposed algorithm can reduce the localisation error and cost and improve the efficiency of localisation.
