Analysts on Ice Flood Changes Characteristics in Recent 46 years in Liaoshan Part of Yellow River

Abstract

Liaoshan was in the lower reaches of Yellow river. Because of different icing time in the lower and upper streams in winter and spring, it formed the phenomena of ice and water rushing downward together, and water rising, which resulted in ice flood disaster. By dint of the ice status and temperature data of Liaoshan part in yellow river from Liaoshan Sunkou hydraulic station and meteorology during 1964 - 2009, the ice flood and freeze-up, as well as the relationship of changes of ice density and temperature changes of the river in recent 46 years were expounded. The analysis suggested that the ice flood period lasted from the last ten days of November to last twenty days of March in the next year; the ice flood, frozen road and ice density were decreasing; the average temperature in recent days and flooding period tended to be warming, showing negative relevance; in certain degree, to forecast the intensity of flood based on temperature could avoid the occurrence of disaster.
