摘要

Abstract

Cottonseed was one of the important products of cotton production.Cottonseed oil plays a valuable role not only in human diet, but also in industrial material.However, there are few researches on the genetic improvement on cottonseed oil, so that the nutritional composition of seed, such as fatty acid content, has been ignored for many years.Recent progress has been achieved on the biochemistry and biotechnology, such as RNA interference, to create genetically modified plants with improved and/or regulated nutritional composition.On the other hand, cottonseed oil, which could be used as a putative material to produce biological diesel oil, has been ignored too.Here a summary on genetic improvement of cottonseed oil and application of RNA interference was presented, a new strategy had been proposed to create new genetic modified cotton stocks or varieties with high content of fatty acid and low content of protein by interfering with PEP.
