Abstract
Sm3+-doped thermoelectric powders of Ca2-xSmxCo2O5 were prepared by the citrate sol-gel method with citrate as complexing agent, glycol as dispersant and Ca(NO3)2·4H20 and Co(NO3)2·6H2O as reagents. Block samples were obtained by the compacting and sintering processes. Thermoelectric properties of Ca2-xSmxCo2O5, such as resistivity ρ, Seebeck coefficient S and power factor P were studied. Results show that when x=0.10-0.30, in contrast with the standard PDF 37-0668, all the X-ray diffraction peaks are consistent and do not shift. When x=0.45, new peaks of Sm3+ impurities appear. Sm3+ substitution greatly improves the thermoelectric properties, reduces the resistivity, and enhances the Seebeck coefficient of Ca2Co2O5. The x=0.30 specimen has improved electrical properties. The highest power factor is 1.25 × 10-4 W/(m·K2) at 600 ℃ for sample Ca1.70Sm0.30Co2O5.关键词
