Evolution Characteristics of Underwater Delta near the New Mouth of the Yellow River Estuary

Abstract
The evolution of underwater delta near the new mouth of Yellow River Estuary is of great importance which affects the increasing and losing of native soil, the exploitation of Shengli oil field and the protection of everglade ecosystem. Hence, the research of evolution characteristics of underwater delta has a realistic guiding value Using the method of actual measurement data analysis, this paper investigates the evolution characteristics of underwater delta near the new mouth of Yellow River Estuary. Results show that,the Qingshuigou channel flow has changed to the Qing 8 branch more than ten years,and the landforms of underwater delta near the new mouth have changed greatly because of the depositing and spreading of the incoming sediment.Through analyzing the underwater landforms using the AUTOCAD and SURFER, this paper points out that the underwater delta appears oval-shaped distribution. The long axis of oval does not exceed 15 km,and the short axis of oval does not exceed 10 km. It illustrates that,a great deal of sediment deposited in the new mouth and the old mouth is scoured severely, and the depth of the depositing and scouring is less than 1 m in the rest regions.关键词
