Abstract
Based on an unstructured-grid, finite-volume method ocean model(FVCOM), a high resolution, three-dimensional salinity dispersion model considering the influence of tide, season wind and waves is built to simulate the dispersion of the brine waste discharges from a coastal desalination plant in Haiyang.From the simulation we find that the brine mainly stays in the bottom of the water column and only a little of them stays in the upper layers.In the presence of waves, the vertical mixing is enhanced; and the brine disperses less in the bottom and more in the upper layers.The results suggest that a three-dimensional, high resolution model is prerequisite and the wave induced mixing should be considered when one wants to simulate the brine dispersion.关键词
