摘要

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary vitamin E on growth performance, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS), superoxide dimutase (SOD) activity and total-antioxidantcapacity (T-AOC) in liver and muscle tissue of juvenile turbot (Scophthalmus maχimus). The juvenile turbot were fed with six isoenergetic and isonitrogenous experimental diets that contained 26, 52,66, 132, 191, 339 mg of vitamin E/kg respectively. Following the 8-week feeding trial, no significant (P >0. 05) diet-related differences were detected in growth and whole body proximate composition. The vitamin E concentration in liver and serum, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of liver and muscle, and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) of liver, however,were significantly affected by the dietary treatment (P<0. 05). The results indicated that changes in tissue lipid peroxidation measurements precede clinical signs of sub-optimal vitamin E intake. In addition,vitamin E in diet could promote the antioxidant capacity of juvenile turbot effectively.
