Polarity Wave Area Ratio Method of ±800 kV UHVDC Transmission Line Fault Line Selection

Abstract
For the DC system with bipolar operation, when a pole line fault occurs, the non-fault line is coupled to large change rates of voltage and current, by which the start criterion is easy to operate, so it is necessary for power system to select the fault pole. When fault occurs on DC line, the polarity wave of fault line is far from the zero axis, and the polarity wave of non-fault line changes in the vicinity of the zero axis,so the absolute value of integral a-long the zero axis of the polarity wave on fault line is higher than that on non-fault line. According to these characteristics, we propose a new method of UHVDC transmission line fault selection based on the ratio of polarity wave area of positive line and negative line. A large number of digital simulation results show that this method is of strong anti-interference ability and robustness to high resistance fault.关键词
