Abstract
Objective To evaluate the nursing of vacuum sealing drainage plus internal and external fixator in treating open tibia and fibula fractures. Methods Seventeen patients with severe open tibia and fibula fractures were treated with external fixator following debridement. Their wound surfaces or cavities were filled with foams with embedded drainage tubes connected to a vacuum bottle. The wounds were closed with secondary suturing, or free flap, orloco- regional flap 7 to 10 days later. Results The wounds of the 17 patients all healed. 14 cases(82.4％ ) had bone primary union, and 3 cases(17.6％ ) delayed union. The average union time was (6.5 ± 2.8)months. There was none of pintract infection. Conclusion Close observation of the wound, the sustained and effective drainage, good psychological and rehabilitation care are critical to the nursing of vacuum sealing drainage plus internal and external fixator in treating open tibia and fibula fractures.关键词
