Effect of milbemycin oxime on infectious Toxocara eggs

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of milbemycin oxime on infectious Toxocara eggs in vivo in different concentrations at different time. After being coacted with different concentrations of milbemycin oxime, infectious Toxocara eggs (about 1 000 eggs) were orally infected to mice. Three and five days post-inoculation (p. i. ), mice were killed by cervical dislocation, respectively. The lungs were removed to record the macroscopic and histopathological injury. In results, the lung of mice inoculated by infectious Toxocara eggs with low concentration of milbemycin oxime (10-7g/mL) for 12 hours showed obvious macroscopic lesions, while no lesions were found in the high concentration of milbemycin oxime (10-5 and 10-6g/mL). It indicated that milbemycin oxime could make infectious Toxocara eggs lose its infection.关键词
