摘要

Abstract

The magnetic flux leakage(MFL) method is commonly used as an inspection technique for ferromagnetic structures. The principle of pulsed magnetic flux leakage testing(PMFL) is analyzed in this pa-paer. In order to overcome the shortages of traditional MFL measurement which is use the magnetic field density of x-axis component and z-axis component,technique of using three-dimensional (3D) pulsed magnetic leakage field is proposed and a kind of new sensor is designed to measure the 3D magnetic field component for defect detection and characterization. The finite element method(FEM) has been used to simulate and analyse the new kind of sensor. The experimental and FEM test results show that this new PMFL can potentially provide additional information about defects.
