Abstract

A lrivalent ion of cerium(Ce~(3+))doped Sr_2Al_2SiO_7 blue phosphor powder was prepared by high temperature solid state method under H_2 and N_2 reducing atmosphere.The crystal structure and particle morphology of the phosphor powder were investigated by the X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The effects of mole content of Ce~(3+) and calcining temperature on the luminescence properties of the Sr_2Al_2SiO_7:Ce~(3+) sample were discussed. The results indicate that the sample prepared at 1 400℃ has a single Sr_2Al_2SiO_7 phase and good crystalline state,and its crystalline grain size is about 2.0μm. The luminous intensity of Sr_2Al_2SiO_7:0.03Ce~(3+)calcined at 1 400℃for 10 h reaches the maximum value. The excitation and emission spectra have broad band peaks of 350-420 um and 450-650 nm, respectively, and the emission and excitation peaks are located at 478 nm by ultraviolet (UV) light exciting and at 362 nm.It indicates that this phosphor is a good candidate for UV chip based white light-emitting diodes.
