Abstract

Nano-sized hydrous ceric oxide (Nano-HCO) with an average diameter size of 70 ran and specific surface area 212 m~2·g~(-1) were prepared using sol-precipitation method in conjunction with ultrasonic dispersion.At an initial As(Ⅲ ) concentration of 10 mg·L~(-1),solution pH range 4~10,adsorbent dose of 1.0 g·L~(-1),a final concentration of As( Ⅲ ) could be decreased below 0.01 mg·L~(-1),within 2 h.The isotherms fit well in the Langmuir model of adsorption,and with the studied pH conditions,the adsorption capacity of As(Ⅲ) on Nano-HCO was increased by 29% to 141% compared with the HCO samples prepared without ultrasonic dispersion treatment.The extent of As(Ⅲ) adsorption was enhanced by increasing ambient temperature.
