Power Optimization in Parallel Storage Systems

Abstract
Power consumption has become a serious issue in HPC system design. Parallel storage system is one of the most important components, so optimizing its power consumption is signficant for the whole system. A parallel storage sys-tem consists of some storage nodes and the optimization of the storage node's power consumption is the major method for parallel storage systems. This paper proposes a method for CPU power optimization. The information of CPU usage is used for DVFS in storage node. And the metadata server in parallel storage systems can be used for power management in it so as to reduce the lag which is caused by frequency scaling. The effectiveness of the method is also analyzed.关键词
