Analysis of Factors Affecting Sex Ratio of Major Species of Whiteflies in Agriculture and Forestry
摘要
Abstract
Whiteflies are haplodiploid creatures,and their population sex ratios are usually female-biased and seasonally dynamic. The factors that affect sex ratios of major species of whiteflies in agricultural and forest ecosystems were analyzed. The sex ratios of their progeny depend on the sex ratios of parents,mating frequency and age of adults,resistance to insecticides,biotypes,and competition for coexistence between the biotypes. Changes both in climatic factors and in host plants resulted in fluctuation of the sex ratios. Either endosymbionts or plant virus in whiteflies,however,seemed to have little impact to the sex ratios of whiteflies.关键词
