Breeding and Selection of Desirable Rubber Clone Reyan 8-79

Abstract
Rubber tiees(Hevea brasiliensis) of stands of rubber plantations in primary and advanced clonal trials located in Hongcheng Team of Experimental Farm, CATAS were used as materials to identify the characteristics of Clone Reyan 8-79 systematically. The results showed that Reyan 8-79 is a high-yielding early starter clone of rubber trees. This clone yielded 5.77 kg/tree/year or 2 504 kg/hm~2/a over the first 11 tapping years, which was 52% or 51% higher than that of the control clone RRIM600. The dry rubber content was high and the potential yield was promising. This clone was similar in windfirmness to RRIM600. Meanwhile the girth and percentage tappability were not significantly different between Reyan 8-79 and the control. It is hence recommended for moderate scale extension in gentle wind areas in the central and west parts of Hainan Province .关键词
