Abstract

In recent years, with the increasing demand for natural gas, gas exploration and development efforts in north Jizhong region continue to increase, which puts forward new requirements for logging identification and evaluation technique in the gas layers. Given the limitations of overlapped curve of three-porosity logging and neutron-gamma over time logging in natural gas layer identification, the adaptive conditions of these two logging modes were proposed. Because of problems in the gas pay identification of conglomerate, carbonate rocks buried hill and deep sandstone reservoirs with low porosity and permeability in north Jizhong region, new logging techniques for gas pay identification were studied and applied, such as dipole shear wave log, nuclear magnetic resonance, nuclear magnetic scanning, modular formation testing. Results show that conventional three neutron porosity and gamma over time logging have multiple solutions because of the lithology effect. On the contrast, nuclear magnetic scanning and modular formation testing have obvious advantages in the gas layer recognition.
