Abstract

Hydraulic factor is one of the most important parameters which can affect ROP. To optimize the utilization of hydraulic power and increase the ROP for ultra-deep wells, all of the factors that can affect the utilization efficiency of the hydraulic power were analyzed. The results demonstrate that if φ139.7 mm drill pipe is used instead of φ127 mm drill pipe, the pump pressure would reduce 0.6 MPa/1000 m; and pump pressure would reduce about 0.4 MPa with drilling fluid viscosity decreasing 10 mps; pump pressure increases 0.8 MPa with drilling fluid density increasing 0.1 g/cm~3; and pump pressure increases more than 1 MPa with pump rate increasing 1 L/s. Meanwhile, the feasibility and implement method of jetting drilling on ultra-deep wells was analyzed, and point out that the ultra-deep well hydraulic parameters design should follow the minimum flow rate designing method, and also provides good reference for ROP improvement of ultra-deep wells.
