摘要

Abstract

The flange connection is one of the most commonly-used mechanical jointing of pipes in deep seas, and also arouses general interest by deepwater tie-ins researchers. Thereby, after an overview on the development of the Flange Connection Tooling (FCT), this paper introduced two representative types of FCT: the Sonsub Brutus system and the Acergy Matis system, including their mechanical structure and working principles, and then presented a self-developed three-petal FCT with independent intellectual property, describing its apparatus and the method thereof, and the detailed program of jointing process. This new type of FCT provides a better design for flange connection in deepwater tie-ins techniques.
