Fully utilization of waste supernatant for property improved biodiesel production coupled with butanol extractive fermentation

Abstract
Using a small quantity of n-octanol (volume ratio 0.2:1) to recover the remaining butanol, more than 56 % of butanol in the waste supernatant could be recovered to extract butanol in the supernatant. As a result, the total butanol yield increased 38%. The waste supernatant could be fully utilized for medium preparation of the next run by pre-treating the supernatant with 3% (w/v) activated carbon to remove melanoidin, the fermentative inhibitor in the waste supernatant. In addition, fully recycling of the waste supernatant for butanol extractive fermentation could be consecutively and stably kept for at least 5 runs without performance deterioration. It supplied a novel, low-cost and environmental-friend production technology for the process of butanol extractive fermentation in couple with property improved biodiesel.关键词
