Neurocognitive enhancement: what we know and what we think

Abstract
Neurocognitive enhancement ( also known as neuroenhancement ) is a pharmacological attempt to increase or improve cognition. These kinds of cognitive-enhancing drugs could be used to treat cognitive deficients induced by various diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy. However, in the past two decades, demands have been growing for such drugs among some healthy adults engaged in the military environment,or doing shift-work or suffering from sleep disorder. In this review we summarize and discuss previously published clinical researches on some well-known cognitive-enhancing drugs and introduce some novel targets and drugs for neuroenhancement which are in the preclinical stage.关键词
