Development of Cable Space Charge Measurement Device Using Pulsed Electro-acoustic Method

Abstract
A well-known fact of the existence and accumulation of space charge within the insulating material poses great threat to the conductance characteristics,aging and breakdown of the polymer power cables,so it is important to research the accumulation and distribution of the space charge.Consequently,we described the basic principle of pulsed electro-acoustic(PEA) method,and manufactured a new device that could be used for cable sample PEA space charge measurement and make it possible to use the flat shape electrode,by which we could apply the PEA method to any size of cables.The system was used to test a new domestic 10 kV XLPE cable and a 10 kV XLPE cable which had been run over 20 years.It is found that,in the case of the same test conditions,the space charge accumulation in the cable which was operated for many years is significantly more than the new one.关键词
