Abstract

The performance of space lattice structures can be significantly affected by the cumulated damage of material caused by large deformation and obvious material plasticity under severe earthquakes.The spatial experiment of circular steel tubes under cyclic axial and horizontal loads was conducted to get a rational constitutive model.The hysteretic behavior of specimens with different slenderness ratios and different loading schemes was investigated.Then,finite element models were developed using a user-defined material sub-routine UMAT encoded incorporating ABAQUS to consider the damage accumulation.Finally,a general constitutive model of circular steel tubes considering damage accumulation was developed based on the agreement between numerical simulation and experimental results.Comparison results show that theoretical curves are in good agreement with experiments in terms of the constitutive model.That proves not only the constitutive model is accurate but also the finite element program is applicable for theoretical analysis.Using the finite element model,responses of reticulated shells with different parameters under severe earthquakes are investigated and the characteristic responses at structural failure are discussed as well.It is found that the damage accumulation reduces the structural failure load obviously.
