摘要

Abstract

Magnesium has good biocompatibility,biodegradation and proper mechanical properties and thereby has the potential to be used as biomedical materials.In this paper,the merits and shortcomings of magnesium as biomaterials are evaluated.Furthermore,different surface modification technologies,including electrochemical deposition and cathodic deposition,plasma immersion ion implantation and ion plating,anodization and micro-arc oxidation,chemical conversion to make coatings on magnesium and its alloys also are reviewed.The influence of as-prepared coating on corrosion properties and bioactivity is described.The prospects of magnesium as a new-type biodegradable hard tissue implant are presented.
