Abstract
In view of the problems of non-rational gray-spaee allocation and noise sensitiveness in traditional spatial domain image contrast enhancement algorithms, this paper proposes a new algorithm for image contrast enhancement based on the analysis of the information of image local details. Based on the idea of unsharp masking, this algorithm calculates the image information and obtain the statistics that represents the information of local details using the wavelet transform. The statistics also takes account of the image noise information. Then the gray-scale space is reallocated using this new statistics, so the tolal image contrast can be enhanced effectively. The experimental results and the data analysis show that the proposed algorithm is much better than the traditional global histogram equalization (GHE) algorithm and the unsharp masking algorithm. Not only the contrast of image is effectively enhanced, but also the image noise is significantly inhibited.关键词
