Abstract
Objective: To validate a mandarin Chinese version of Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-49) in China and to evaluate its psychometric properties for Chinese.Method:The original 49 items of OHIP were translated into mandarin Chinese following accepted cultural adaptation technique guidelines.The mandarin Chinese version of OHIP-49 (OHIP-C49)was administered to subjects with different oral status.Serf-perceived oral health, treatment need were also collected.Reliability and validity of OHIP-C49 were validated.Result: 333 effectual questionnaires were reclaimed from the 360 subjects interviewed.Cronbach's alpha ranged from 0.79 to 0.96 and test-retest correlation coefficients ranged from 0.84 to 0.97 for subscale and summary scores of the OHIP-C49.There was a considerable relationship between the summary or subscale scores of OHIP-C49 and self-perceived oral health status, which demonstrated good construct validity of OHIP-C49.Also,mean OHIP-C49 and subscale scores presented significant differences in relation to subjects' perceived treatment needs (.P ＜0.001).Conclusion:The mandarin OHIP-49 shows sufficient psychometric properties and seems suitable for assessing OHRQoL in Chinese.关键词
