Back-shu Point Acupuncture Combined with Pricking and Cupping Therapy in Treating Chronic Urticaria and Its Influences on Serum IL-4, IFN-γ, IgE Levels

摘要
Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical effects and mechanisms of back - shu point acupuncture combined with pricking and cupping therapy in treating chronic urticaria. Methods A total of 64 chronic urticaria patients and 30 health subjects ( healthy group ) were enrolled. Thirty - two patients underwent back - shu point acupuncture combined with pricking and cupping therapy ( treatment group ) and another 32 patients were treated by oral Cetirizine ( control group ) . The healthy group received no treatment but immunological test for once. Clinical curative effects and serum levels of IL-4, IFN - γand IgE before and after treatment were compared between the two patient groups. Results In the treatment group, total effective rate was 93.75％ ; 18 cases ( 56.25％ ) recovered, 9 cases ( 28.12％ ) were notably effective, 3 cases ( 9.38％ ) were effective, and the procedure was invalid in 2 cases ( 6.25％ ). In the control group, total effective rate was 78.12％ ; 8 cases ( 25.00％ ) recovered, 12 cases ( 37.50％) were notably effective, 5 cases ( 15.62％ ) were effective, and the procedure was invalid in 7 cases ( 21.88％ ) . Curative effects were significantly different between the two patient groups ( P ＜0.05 ). Before treatment, IFN - γlevels were lower and IL-4, IgE levels were higher in the patient group compared with the healthy group ( P＜0.05 ), while no differences were noted between the treatment group and the control group ( P ＞ 0.05 ) . After treatment, IFN-γ levels increased while IL -4 and IgE levels decreased notably in the treatment group in comparison with the control group with significant differences noted ( P ＜ 0.05 ) . Conclusion Back - shu point acupuncture combined with pricking and cupping therapy exhibits satisfiable efficacy in treating chronic urticaria through elevating IFN - γ level while lowering IL - 4 level, correcting Th1/Th2 imbalance, lowering IgE level, and thus achieving lower transmitter release and vessel permeability.关键词
