Urbanization impact on precipitation of Urumqi City in recent 48 a

Abstract
With the help of comparison and analysis on 1961 -2008 precipitation data of the urban, suburban and mountain districts of Urumqi City, the effects were revealed of its urbanization process on the precipitation. The result shows that Urumqi's urbanization process has the obvious rain-increasing effects, which include the following resulting tendencies for urban district's precipitation increase, precipitation intensity augmentation and precipitation days going up. Meanwhile, the urban district's rain-increasing effects appear more distinctly in its suburban districts. The increasing rate of urban district's annual precipitation was 32.4mm/10a in the recent 48 a, with the evident increase in winter and summer precipitation. The average precipitation in the rapid urbanization phase from 1985 to 2008 was increased by 29% over that of the slow urbanization phase from 1961 to 1984; the increasing rate of average precipitation intensity was 0.31 mm · d-1· (10a) -1. The interdecadal average of daily maximum precipitation increased clearly, and the days with precipitation more than S.O mm in winter and summer increased significantly in the urban district in the recent 48 a. The urban's rain-increasing effects improve the urban ecological environments, at the same time there also exist the potentially unprofitable effects such as urban water-logging, floods caused by summer heavy rain, and low visibility and severe air pollution caused by heavily foggy weather in winter etc.关键词
