Abstract
Objective: To asses the characteristics and clinical effect of space retainer. Methods:60 child patients who required to protect edentulous space in the maxillary or mandibular arch,which was divided into experimental and control groups. Each group had 30 patients. One group used transparent space retainers, the other used traditional band—to—loop space retainers. Parameters assessed were patient satisfaction,the sffect of space retainers, the laboratory time,ehairtime and clinical procedures. Results;There was a significant difference not only in patient satisfaction such as esthetic,cpmfort,but also in fixation,laboratory time an, chairtime and clinical effects,wearing and taking off the retainers between two type retainers. Conclusion:Compared with the traditional space retainers. In addition to good fixation and effect, clinical advantages of the positive pressure transparent space retainer includes:cost and time saving, reliable adhesive, no metal allergy, easy to clean, natural feel and esthetically desireable. It is another choice for dentist to protect edentulous space.关键词
