The Application of Human Adipose-Derived Stem Cells in Bone Tissue Engineering

Abstract
The reconstruction of large bone defects has been an important issue in clinical practice. Recently, bone tissue engineering combining with stem cell has emerged as one of the most promising therapeutic modality for clinical use. Human adipose-derived stem cell (hADSC) have now considered to be a promising stem cell source in bone tissue engineering, mainly due to its wide availability, easy access and the ability of osteogenesis both in vitro and vivo. This review aims to characterize human ADSC based on its surface proteins, the osteogenesis in vivo, the molecular mechanism of regulating osteogenesis and the effect of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP2) on the osteogenic capacity of human ADSC.关键词
