Abstract

Objective: To detect and compare the expression of integrin α5β1 and fibronectin (FN) in osseous tissue around implant between Type D Diabetic Rats and normal rats, and explore the possible mechanism that diabetic mellitus affect the implant osseointegration. Method: Establish the rat model of type Ⅱ diabetes, then 48 rats were divided into four groups randomly: normal implanting group (group C) > normal control group (group CO) . Diabetic implanting groups (group T), diabetic control group (group TO). The group C and group T were implanted the titanium implant near the epiphyseal end of tibia. Rats were killed after two, four and eight weeks in batches. Using immunohistochemistry method the expression of integrin α5β1 and FN were detected in osseous tissue around the implants in each group. Result: The expression of integrin α5β1 and FN in osseous tissue around the implants in group T were significantly stronger than the expression in group C in two and four weeks (P <0.05) .Eight weeks after implantation, the expression of integrin α5β1 in group T were close to that of group C, while the expression of FN in group T was significantly stronger than group C (P <0.05). Conclusion: Diabetic mellitus may weaken the implant osseointegration by changing expression of integrin α5β1 and FN in osseous tissue around the implants.
