Abstract
Objective: To evaluate craniofacial asymmetry based on 3-dimensional model reconstruction of CT data for early diagnoses, treatment and prediction in skeletal class Ⅲ children. Method: 19 patients with skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion aged 7-16 years were selected. 3-dimensional CT examination was done on them respectively and then the data were processed by the software Mimics 10.01 to reconstruct images and to analyze asymmetry by 21 indices. Statistical significance was assessed by paired-samples t test. Result: Three indices, including AZ (ZA)-sagittal, J-sagittal, and Z-sagittal, showed statistical significances (P<0.05) between right and left sides in the craniofacial structure. Conclusions: Mimics 10.01 made it facilitated to quantify the craniofacial asymmetry through CT data. Bone structures related to zygoma showed that the right side was prior to the left side in adolescences with skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion.关键词
