Abstract

With the development trends of the large scale wind farms being integrated into power systems concentratedly, it is necessary to study the transient performances and the effects on the power system for a wind farm including different parameters and types of wind turbine generator systems(WTGS). Based on analyzing the transient models of the wind turbine units with squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) and doubly fed induction generator(DFIG), the weighted equivalent models of the presented wind farm are established. Then, from the viewpoints of different capacity ratio of wind turbines, different short-circuit capacity ratio of wind farm and different transmission line impedance ratio, the transient operational characteristics of the wind farm with different WTGS are simulated. The comparison results show that under the condition of a constant penetration of wind generation in power system, with the increase of the capacity ratio of the wind turbine units with DFIG in the wind farm, with the decrease of the short-circuit capacity ratio of the wind farm and the transmission line impedance ratio, the transient stability of wind farm output voltage and the WTGS can be improved.This work is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 50607022).
