摘要
Abstract
Due to high density and mixed land uses, cycle transport was very popular in China in the 1980s. But because of the restrictive policies against cycling, from the mid 1990s, many cities have seen a significant decline in the bycycle use. This runs counter to the objectives of sustainable development. This paper analyzes the policy changes for cycle transport and explores the new public cycle system. It is pointed out that we must create favorable environment in policy, spatial planning and social culture to keep a high share of cycle transport in the cities to achieve urban sustainability objectives.关键词
