摘要

Abstract

Asiatic wild ass (Equus hemionus) ranks the grade I key protected wildlife in China , and the endangered animal species on the IUCN Red List in 2008. Because of the human interferences since the mid 19th century, the distribution area of E. Hemionus has reduced increasingly, and fallen into an endangered condition around the world. In order to effectively conserve this species, numerous researches have been made on its ecology and biology. This paper summarized the main results of these researches from the aspects of morphology, taxology, distribution, population quantity, social structure and territorial behavior, habitat selection, feeding e-cology, reproduction ecology, behavior day-time budget and activity rhythm, endangered causes, and conservation strategy. Three suggestions were put forward for the further study on E. Hemionus.
