摘要

Abstract

Objective To study hearing impairment caused by chrome poisoning and its protection action of copper and manganese in rats. Methods Forty Wistar rats were evenly randomized to control group (physiological saline 4 mg/kg), chrome-poisoning group (potassium dichromate 4 mg/kg), copper-protection group (potassium dichromate 4 mg/kg and copper sul-fate 2 mg/kg) and manganese-protection group (potassium dichromate 4 mg/kg and manganese chloride 2 mg/kg). Continuous in-tragastric medication for 30 days, then the hearing of the rats were detected by auditory brainstem response (ABR). Results Compared with the control group, the ABR figures of chrome poisoning group were extremely flat, and the latency of both waves Ⅰand Ⅱ were obviously prolongated, and the peak of waves reduced dramatically (F = 3. 86 - 552. 67,q = 4. 30 - 55. 95,P< 0. 05). In copper-protection and manganese-protection groups, the latency period of waves I and II was shorter than chromium-poisoning group, the peak of wave was higher than that of the chrome-poisoning (q=3. 02 - 31. 48,P<0. 05), but did not yet return to the level of the control group. Conclusion Chromic poisoning may damage hearing in rats, and both copper and manganese show a certain protection of rats against from this impairment.
